What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking IBS Control against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
IBS Control has three active probiotic ingredients, each a different beneficial bacterial strain. Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM and Lactobacillus plantarum 299V are both lactobacilli — bacteria that may help restore balance in your gut.
Bifidobacterium animalis lactis HN019 is a bifidobacterium, another type of probiotic organism. Together, they're meant to support your digestive health, particularly for irritable bowel syndrome.
The product contains no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for Lactobacillus acidophilus shows it's possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, possibly effective for bacterial vaginosis, and possibly effective against Helicobacter pylori. It's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease, and there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate it for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
The effectiveness ratings for the other two ingredients — Bifidobacterium animalis lactis and Lactobacillus plantarum — aren't in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Some people taking it with other probiotics have reported mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, stomach discomfort, or diarrhea, though these are uncommon.
Rarely, the live organisms can spread to other parts of the body and cause serious infections (bacteremia, sepsis, endocarditis, and others), usually in people where bacteria already naturally exist in other locations — but this is very uncommon. We have no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data on file for any ingredient in this product; talk with your doctor before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take IBS Control, check with your pharmacist if you're on any antibiotic drugs — they may interfere with how well the probiotic works.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
IBS Control may be worth trying if you have irritable bowel syndrome and want to support your gut with probiotics. If you're taking antibiotics, separate them from this product and ask your pharmacist how to time them.
Let your doctor or pharmacist know you're starting it, especially if you have a weakened immune system or a recent surgery.

IBS Control by Inner Health Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
IBS Control by Inner Health contains three probiotic strains.
We could fully check only one of them — Lactobacillus acidophilus — and it does have documented interactions. The most serious concern is with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity).
Taking L. acidophilus at the same time as antibiotics may reduce how well the probiotic works, because antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the product. You'll want to separate when you take them — ask your pharmacist for a dosing schedule that works.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, no interactions are documented for the other two ingredients, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis HN019 and Lactobacillus plantarum 299V, though we couldn't fully check them either. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Before you start IBS Control, run your current prescription and over-the-counter medications through the interaction checker on this page — especially if you're on antibiotics.
