Inositol nicotinate is a compound your body converts to niacin, a B vitamin involved in energy metabolism and circulation. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium silicate, and magnesium stearate—which are common binders and fillers that help hold the capsule together.

Strong evidence
For chromium: the evidence shows it's likely effective for chromium deficiency and possibly effective for diabetes. It's rated possibly ineffective for prediabetes, schizophrenia, and high blood pressure.
For inositol nicotinate: it's rated possibly effective for Raynaud syndrome (a circulation condition affecting the fingers and toes). For scleroderma, intermittent claudication (leg pain with walking), psoriasis, restless legs syndrome, and migraine headache, the evidence isn't established well enough in our data to rate it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. Most common side effects are gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, insomnia, irritability, and mood changes.
Rare serious effects include kidney and liver damage and blood cell problems; skin rashes and contact dermatitis have also been reported. High or long-term doses may pose risks, and extra supplement doses should be avoided unless your doctor recommends them—especially in pregnancy and breastfeeding, where only small amounts from diet or prenatal vitamins are considered acceptable.
Inositol nicotinate is generally well tolerated short-term but evidence on long-term safety is limited, and high-dose niacin compounds can affect your liver. Common side effects mirror niacin's: abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, flushing, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting—usually worse early on and manageable with meals or antacids.
Because inositol nicotinate converts to niacin, it may impair how your body handles blood sugar. Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety data are not on file for this ingredient.

Inositol Nicotinate
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of inositol nicotinate with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
Inositol nicotinate has fibrinolytic effects, which may increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, inositol nicotinate might increase blood glucose levels and may diminish the effects of antidiabetes drugs.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Niacin can cause hyperglycemia, abnormal glucose tolerance, and glycosuria. Increased blood glucose monitoring may be necessary, particularly early in the course of treatment.
Hmg-Coa Reductase Inhibitors ("Statins")
Theoretically, concomitant use of inositol nicotinate and statins might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Some case reports have raised concerns that niacin might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis when combined with statins However, a significantly increased risk of myopathy has not been demonstrated in clinical trials.
Transdermal Nicotine (Nicoderm)
Theoretically, concomitant use of inositol nicotinate and transdermal nicotine might increase the risk of flushing and dizziness.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Inositol nicotinate and nicotine can both cause flushing and dizziness.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
