Here's the short version: anagrelide already lowers your platelets and gives them a mild blood-thinning effect, since fewer platelets means your blood clots less easily. The no-flush niacin in inositol nicotinate is thought to nudge the body toward breaking down clots a bit more (a fibrinolytic effect). Stacked together, the worry is a slightly higher chance of bleeding or bruising.

To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on how the supplement behaves, not strong proof, so don't panic. Still, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or unusual fatigue. Anagrelide is a serious medicine for a real blood disorder, so please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement rather than starting or stopping anything on your own.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
