Glipizide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Inositol Nicotinate interacts with.

Theoretically, inositol nicotinate might increase blood glucose levels and may diminish the effects of antidiabetes drugs.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Niacin can cause hyperglycemia, abnormal glucose tolerance, and glycosuria. Increased blood glucose monitoring may be necessary, particularly early in the course of treatment.

Here's the thing to keep an eye on if you take glipizide for your type 2 diabetes. Inositol nicotinate is a 'no-flush' niacin product, and once it's in your body it slowly turns into niacin. Niacin can nudge your blood sugar upward, which works against what glipizide is trying to do. So pairing the two could blunt your glipizide's effect and leave your numbers running higher than usual.

Glipizide isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about how your body breaks the medicine down. It's simply that the niacin can push sugar the opposite direction. The evidence here is fairly modest, and the effect tends to show up most in the first weeks. If you do start it, check your blood sugar more often and let your pharmacist or doctor know before changing anything.

Glipizide tablets and glipizide extended-release tablets are both used as an add-on to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication of uncontrolled blood sugar).
