Atorvastatin Calcium falls under HMG-CoA REDUCTASE INHIBITORS ("Statins") — the group Inositol Nicotinate interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of inositol nicotinate and statins might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
Inositol nicotinate is metabolized to niacin in the body. Some case reports have raised concerns that niacin might increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis when combined with statins However, a significantly increased risk of myopathy has not been demonstrated in clinical trials.

Here's the gist if you take Lipitor (atorvastatin) and want to add inositol nicotinate, a 'no-flush' niacin product. In your body it slowly turns into niacin, and there have been scattered case reports over the years suggesting niacin combined with a statin might raise the small risk of muscle problems. The big worries are myopathy (muscle aches, soreness, or weakness) and, very rarely, rhabdomyolysis, a serious breakdown of muscle tissue.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is, though. It's largely theoretical and based on anecdotes, and good clinical trials haven't shown a clear jump in muscle risk. So it's worth a conversation, not a panic. Tell your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and report any new, unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or dark urine right away.

What Is Atorvastatin Used For?

Brand name: Lipitor

Atorvastatin is used along with a healthy diet to lower high cholesterol and high triglycerides. It also lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke and other heart problems in adults with or at risk for coronary heart disease (CHD, blocked arteries in the heart).

It is also used for certain inherited cholesterol conditions, including in children 10 and older with familial hypercholesterolemia. Not every label lists every use in exactly the same way, so your prescriber will match it to your needs.
