Kefiran Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Kefiran against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 8 active ingredients: a Probiotic Culture Blend made up of six Lactobacillus strains (including L. acidophilus LA-3 and L. helveticus SP-27), plus Kefiran, which is a polysaccharide derived from kefir cultures. These are live microorganisms and compounds intended to support your gut health.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—microcrystalline cellulose, hydrolyzed fiber, and water—which are standard binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The data we hold shows Lactobacillus acidophilus may be effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, though the evidence is still developing (rated Possibly Effective). For Lactobacillus helveticus, we don't have enough reliable evidence yet to rate it for any of the conditions it's been studied in, including hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, cognitive function, mood, rotaviral diarrhea, and exercise-related respiratory infections.
We hold no effectiveness data for Kefiran or the other strains in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though the safety data advise checking with your doctor before you start. Lactobacillus helveticus is also generally well tolerated in healthy people, but if you're seriously ill or immunocompromised, be cautious—and check with your doctor first either way.
Both strains are live organisms, so there is a small theoretical concern they could cause infection in some patients, though most documented cases appear tied to bacteria already present in your body moving to other sites. Oral use of these probiotics may rarely cause mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea; a small number of trial participants reported rash and itching, though it's unclear if these were tied to the probiotics themselves.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main medication type to double-check before taking Kefiran. Because this product contains live probiotic organisms, antibiotics taken at the same time may kill them and make the probiotics less effective.
Space out your doses with your doctor's or pharmacist's help.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you have IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or certain other gut or bacterial concerns, Lactobacillus acidophilus in this product may be worth trying—the evidence is developing. The other strains haven't been studied enough yet to know.
If you take antibiotics, you'll need to time this carefully to avoid reducing the probiotics' effectiveness. Check your medications and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you're immunocompromised or seriously ill.

The best of Kefir in a veggie capsule
No dairy No lactose No gluten
Vegan
Kefiran is produced through a simple fermentation process of Non-GMO rice. It has no animal sourced ingredient.
Kefiran capsules are very small and easy to swallow.
To ensure Kefiran meets the highest standards of quality, strict controls are applied at every stage of the manufacturing process. Kefiran is manufactured in a GMP facility.
What is Kefir? Kefir is a fermented milk beverage originating from one of the world's top longevity regions. The word Kefir is derived from the Turkish word Keif which translates to "feeling good". This fermented beverage is known for promoting healthy digestion and overall well-being. What is Kefiran? Kefiran is the best of the traditional kefir drink in a veggie capsule.
Kefiran contains no dairy, lactose or gluten.
Kefiran is vegan and low calorie.
During fermentation, the L. kefiranofaciens in traditional kefir produces kefiran, a polysaccharide that - along with the probiotic cultures - is believed to be the primary source of kefir's health benefits. Two Kefiran capsules provide 20 mg of kefiran, plus 50 billion CFU (colony forming units) of active probiotic cultures. Why take Kefiran? Most of the food in our modern diet is devoid of the healthy bacteria found in many traditional foods. Add Kefiran to your daily diet and enjoy the benefits of the traditional fermented beverage for healthy digestion, intestinal health and overall well-being.
