HelloPharmacist Scorecard of LIPO NR by Alive By Science
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
LIPO NR is a straightforward single-ingredient supplement. It contains nicotinamide riboside, a form of vitamin B3 that works as a precursor to NAD+, a molecule involved in energy production and cellular health.
The capsule also includes sunflower lecithin and a vegetarian capsule shell as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for nicotinamide riboside is still being built. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Alzheimer disease, athletic performance, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), or heart failure.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work for these conditions — it means the research isn't yet conclusive enough to establish how well it does.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Nicotinamide riboside appears well tolerated in the short-term studies we have, but long-term safety isn't fully known. The most common side effects reported in clinical trials are bloating, muscle pain, nausea, itching, sweating, and changes in bowel movements.
Mild nausea, bloating, and transient stool changes have been noted in some patients; other gastrointestinal discomfort (abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion) has been reported with combination products containing nicotinamide riboside. One patient reported leg cramps in a trial.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, there isn't enough safety data, so the guidance is to avoid use and discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
Before taking LIPO NR, check your blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) with the search tool on this page. Nicotinamide riboside may add to their blood-pressure-lowering effect, which could increase the risk of low blood pressure.
If you take any prescription medication, confirm there's no interaction before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
LIPO NR is a single-ingredient nicotinamide riboside supplement for anyone curious about NAD+ support, but the evidence for specific health conditions is still preliminary. If you take blood pressure medication, check your exact drugs with the tool on this page before starting.
Long-term safety data is limited, and it's not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding — talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to decide if it's right for you.

LIPO NR by Alive By Science Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Alive By Science's LIPO NR contains nicotinamide riboside, which has documented interactions with one category of medications.
The main concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensives): nicotinamide riboside may add to their effect, theoretically increasing the risk of low blood pressure (hypotension). A small clinical study suggests nicotinamide riboside can modestly lower blood pressure in people with high blood pressure, though other research hasn't confirmed this effect.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
One clinical trial reported a single case of leg cramps with nicotinamide riboside use, and mild muscle pain or soreness appeared in another. Altogether, these interactions span 172 individual medications.
Before you start LIPO NR, check your exact blood pressure medications with the search tool on this page to see if any overlap with the documented concerns.
