Clonidine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Nicotinamide Riboside interacts with.

Theoretically, nicotinamide riboside may have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs, potentially increasing the risk for hypotension.
One small clinical study suggests that nicotinamide riboside can modestly reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. However, other clinical research did not find a reduction in blood pressure when compared with control.

Here's the gist: clonidine already does a good job of lowering your blood pressure by calming the signals that tell your blood vessels to tighten. Nicotinamide riboside (a form of vitamin B3) might nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. Put the two together and, in theory, you could get a bit more of a drop than expected.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. This is a theoretical, minor concern based on how things could add up, and the research is mixed, with one small study showing a modest dip and others showing nothing. If you do take both, just keep an eye out for feeling dizzy, lightheaded, drowsy, or wobbly when you stand up. Let your pharmacist or doctor know before adding it, and they can help you monitor.

What Is Clonidine Used For?

Brand name: Catapres

Clonidine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Several products — including Clonidine Hydrochloride tablets, Javadin oral solution, Nexiclon XR extended-release tablets, and Catapres-TTS skin patches — are approved for this use, either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.

Extended-release formulations — including Onyda XR oral suspension and clonidine hydrochloride extended-release tablets (such as Kapvay) — are approved to treat ADHD in children and teenagers ages 6 to 17, either on their own or alongside stimulant medications. Separately, clonidine injection products (Duraclon and others) are used alongside opioid pain medicines to treat severe cancer pain that opioids alone cannot control adequately.
