Multi-Strain Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Bronson
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Multi-Strain Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This probiotic contains four active ingredients: Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactospore Lactobacillus coagulans — all beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut. The inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, modified cellulose, cranberry fruit extract, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide, which serve as fillers, binders, and capsule material.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for what this blend can do is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori infection.
Lactospore Lactobacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS. However, Bifidobacterium longum has insufficient evidence for the conditions we reviewed — including age-related cognitive decline, allergies, asthma, and athletic performance.
The data we hold doesn't establish whether any of these ingredients work for other conditions you might be curious about.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The three checked ingredients — Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactospore Lactobacillus coagulans — are generally well tolerated in healthy people. However, caution is warranted for those who are seriously ill or immune-compromised, because there have been rare cases of these bacteria entering the bloodstream in critically ill patients, including premature infants.
Rare side effects when taken by mouth include abdominal discomfort, pain, bloating, flatulence, and in one case a dry cough. Since these are live organisms, there's a theoretical risk of infection in vulnerable populations.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe, but safety data on the other ingredients are limited — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check your antibiotic medications with the tool on this page — that's the only drug type we documented interactions with across these ingredients. If you're on antibiotics, you'll need to separate the timing.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're generally healthy and not on antibiotics, this multi-strain probiotic is worth considering, especially if you have IBS or constipation. The main thing to watch for is antibiotics — don't take them at the same time as this product.
If you're seriously ill, immune-compromised, or pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your pharmacist first.

Multi-Strain Probiotic by Bronson Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Bronson's Multi-Strain Probiotic contains four active ingredients — three of which we could check for interactions — and all three interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is with Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactospore Lactobacillus coagulans: all three are live organisms that can be killed by antibiotics taken at the same time, which may reduce how well the probiotic works. The interaction severity is Moderate across all three.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The good news is that this is manageable — you just need to separate when you take them. If you're on antibiotics, ask your pharmacist or doctor to space out your doses; generally, taking the probiotic a few hours before or after your antibiotic helps.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
We weren't able to check one ingredient — Lactobacillus rhamnosus — because we don't hold data for it. To be sure about your exact medications, run them through the interaction checker on this page.
