Longest Living Acidophilus+ Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Longest Living Acidophilus+ against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Longest Living Acidophilus+ by Futurebiotics
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This capsule contains four active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bacillus coagulans (a spore-forming probiotic marketed as Lactospore). These are live microorganisms meant to support your gut flora.
The capsule also holds inactive ingredients—microcrystalline cellulose, modified cellulose, cranberry fruit extract, magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide—which help form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed across these four probiotics. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS. For Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, the data we hold doesn't establish effectiveness for any condition we checked.
Many other uses listed for these strains show insufficient evidence or insufficient reliable evidence, meaning more research is needed before we can say whether they work.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, because they contain live organisms, there's a theoretical risk—especially rare—of infection in people who are severely ill, have a weakened immune system, or have had recent surgery or invasive medical devices.
Gastrointestinal side effects like gas, bloating, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea can happen but are uncommon. Very rarely, skin rash or itching has been reported.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly safe in pregnancy; Bifidobacterium longum and Bacillus coagulans are both possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, seriously ill, or have a compromised immune system.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start Longest Living Acidophilus+, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take antibiotic drugs. All three of the bacteria we could check—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bacillus coagulans—can lose effectiveness when antibiotics are taken at the same time, so timing matters.
We couldn't check Lactobacillus rhamnosus, so ask your pharmacist to run your full medication list through the interaction tool on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic that may help with IBS, constipation, or antibiotic-related diarrhea—though the evidence is strongest for the Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bacillus coagulans strains. The main thing to watch is antibiotics: you'll need to space them several hours apart from this product.
If you're healthy and not on antibiotics, it's generally well tolerated, but check with your doctor or pharmacist first, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or dealing with a serious illness.
