What’s inside
Full disclosure
This softgel contains 2 active ingredients: lycopene 15 mg and rice bran oil. Lycopene is a natural red pigment found in tomatoes and other plants.
Rice bran oil comes from the outer layer of rice grains and is used as a carrier oil in this formulation. The capsule itself is made from gelatin, glycerin, purified water, medium chain triglyceride, yellow beeswax, and silica — all inactive ingredients that help deliver the actives.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lycopene is possibly effective for prostate cancer based on available evidence. For other conditions — bladder cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, ALS, and exercise-induced asthma — the evidence is either insufficient to rate it or points to ineffectiveness.
Rice bran oil is possibly effective for high cholesterol, but the evidence isn't established for alopecia areata, and it appears ineffective for colorectal cancer.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both ingredients are generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. Lycopene from food is considered safe; supplement doses are well studied.
Rice bran is generally safe as food, but concentrated supplements have less safety data. The most common side effects from either ingredient are digestive — diarrhea, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and nausea — especially in the first few weeks when increasing dietary bran.
Rarely, rice bran can trigger allergic reactions including hives, swelling, wheezing, or anaphylaxis in people with sensitivity. Lycopene is likely safe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding based on food amounts, though supplements in pregnancy haven't been well studied; talk with your doctor before using it during pregnancy or lactation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check before taking this product if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin for heart protection) — lycopene may theoretically increase bleeding risk, and that's a Moderate-level concern. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we could check, but run your full medication list through the search tool on this page to be sure.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may be worth considering if you're interested in prostate health support or cholesterol management, though the evidence for these uses is modest. If you take any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist first — lycopene may increase bleeding risk.
Most people tolerate it well, but digestive side effects can happen, especially early on. Have a conversation with your own healthcare provider about whether it fits your health goals.
