Magic Mushroom Mix Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Magic Mushroom Mix against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Magic Mushroom Mix by Nature's Blend
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Magic Mushroom Mix contains 6 ingredients, 5 of which are active: shiitake mushroom, chaga mushroom, maitake mushroom, reishi mushroom, and cordyceps mushroom — all fungal extracts — plus VegD3, a form of vitamin D. The inactive ingredients are hypromellose (a capsule binder), rice flour, and rice husk concentrate.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for what these mushrooms can actually do is very limited. For shiitake, the data we hold shows it's possibly ineffective for dental plaque, and we have insufficient evidence for its use in chemotherapy side effects and cancer.
Chaga, maitake, reishi, and cordyceps are all rated as having insufficient evidence for their listed uses — meaning we don't have enough reliable research to say whether they work or not. None of these ingredients have a strong evidence rating in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shiitake mushroom is generally well tolerated when cooked and eaten as food, but concentrated supplements carry more caution — raw shiitake can cause a skin rash with systemic symptoms (shiitake dermatitis), and rarely, large pieces can cause intestinal blockage. Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting are the most common complaints.
Chaga has caused kidney failure and kidney inflammation in cases of excessive consumption due to high oxalate content. Maitake and cordyceps are generally well tolerated short-term, with minor GI side effects (diarrhea, abdominal discomfort) reported in a small number of trial participants.
Reishi is also generally well tolerated, with common side effects including dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, itching, and rash. For pregnancy and breastfeeding: chaga, maitake, reishi, and cordyceps all lack sufficient safety data, and the safety notes advise against use during pregnancy and lactation.
Shiitake and VegD3 pregnancy and lactation data are not on file.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check this product if you take a blood thinner (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drug) like warfarin, aspirin, or similar medications — maitake has caused a dangerous increase in warfarin effect in one reported case, and chaga, reishi, and cordyceps may also increase bleeding risk. Blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) — maitake and reishi can lower blood pressure further.
Diabetes medications (antidiabetes drugs) — chaga, maitake, and reishi may lower blood sugar too much. Immunosuppressants — shiitake, chaga, and cordyceps may reduce their effectiveness.
If you take testosterone therapy, cordyceps carries a minor documented interaction. No interactions are documented for VegD3, as we could not check that ingredient.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take a blood thinner, blood pressure medication, diabetes drug, or immunosuppressant, talk to your pharmacist before starting this product — especially if you're on warfarin. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to be, the safety data for most of these mushrooms is too thin to recommend them.
For everyone else, these mushrooms are generally tolerated, but the evidence that they actually work for anything is not established in our data.

Magic Mushroom Mix by Nature's Blend Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Magic Mushroom Mix by Nature's Blend contains five mushroom ingredients plus VegD3, a vitamin D supplement.
Four of the mushroom ingredients have documented interactions with medications, affecting a broad range of drug types. The most serious interaction involves maitake mushroom and warfarin (a blood thinner): one case report showed that maitake mushroom increased warfarin's blood-thinning effect to a dangerous level, raising the patient's clotting time marker (INR) to 5.1 after just one week of use.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Shiitake and chaga mushrooms may both interfere with blood thinners and immunosuppressants (drugs that suppress your immune system). Chaga additionally carries a moderate risk with diabetes medications — animal research suggests it lowers blood sugar.
Maitake and reishi mushrooms both interact with blood pressure medications and diabetes drugs, with maitake lowering blood sugar and reishi showing inconsistent effects. Reishi at higher doses may also thin the blood.
Cordyceps mushroom interacts with blood thinners and immunosuppressants, and a minor interaction is documented with testosterone therapy.
We could not check VegD3 for interactions — we hold no data for that ingredient. Altogether, these interactions span 655 individual medications.
Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the checker on this page, especially if you take any blood thinner, blood pressure medication, diabetes drug, immunosuppressant, or testosterone therapy.

Reishi Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Chaga Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, chaga may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that chaga extract can inhibit platelet aggregation. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking chaga with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that chaga might decrease blood glucose levels and increase insulin levels. This has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, chaga might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro research suggests that certain constituents of chaga stimulate immune function. This has not been reported in humans.
Shiitake Mushroom
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, taking shiitake mushroom might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro evidence suggests that shiitake mushroom extracts stimulate immune function.
Maitake Mushroom
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
Cordyceps Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
