Shiitake Mushroom + Adalimumab
Adalimumab brand name: Humira.
Shiitake Mushroom has a moderate interaction with Adalimumab. Theoretically, taking shiitake mushroom might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Adalimumab
Adalimumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Shiitake Mushroom interacts with.
In vitro evidence suggests that shiitake mushroom extracts stimulate immune function.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea behind this one. Humira (adalimumab) works by quieting down an overactive immune system, which is exactly what helps calm the joint pain, swelling, and gut inflammation it's prescribed for. Shiitake, on the other hand, contains compounds like lentinan that may gently stimulate immune activity. So in theory, a concentrated shiitake supplement could push against what Humira is trying to do and make it work a little less well.
I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical, based mostly on lab studies, not real-world cases. Eating shiitake as food is very unlikely to cause a problem. Concentrated extracts (lentinan, AHCC) are where I'd be more cautious. Before adding any shiitake supplement, run it by your doctor or pharmacist first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Adalimumab page
“Adalimumab (Humira) works by dialing down an overactive immune system, which is what makes this list so uniform: all 53 supplements on file are flagged for one reason, they may stimulate immunity and could, in theory, blunt the drug's effect. None of the interactions is rated major (52 are moderate, one minor), so for most people this…”

What is Shiitake Mushroom?
- Immune support
- General wellness and nutrition
- Cholesterol and heart health
- Adjunct in cancer care (lentinan, AHCC)
- Antioxidant support
Shiitake is a popular edible mushroom that is nutritious and safe to eat as food for most people. Some of its extracts (like lentinan and AHCC) have been studied as immune support, mainly alongside cancer treatment, but evidence for most supplement uses is limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated shiitake supplements.
