Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Shiitake Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear aripiprazole. The concern here is that a concentrated shiitake extract called AHCC might speed that enzyme up. If that happened, your body could break down aripiprazole a little faster, which in theory might lower its levels and make it less effective. For someone using it for schizophrenia, bipolar mania, or depression, that could mean symptoms creeping back.

Here's the reassuring part: this idea comes only from lab studies, not from people, so it's very theoretical. Eating shiitake as a normal food is highly unlikely to matter. If you're considering a concentrated shiitake or AHCC supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first before starting anything.
