Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Shiitake Mushroom interacts with.

Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear aripiprazole (the active drug in Aristada). Lab tests hint that a concentrated shiitake extract called AHCC might speed that enzyme up a bit. If that happened in real life, it could lower your aripiprazole levels, which in theory might make it work less well at keeping symptoms steady.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. This idea comes only from test-tube studies and has never been shown in people, so it's mostly theoretical. Eating shiitake as food is not a concern. The injection is also long-acting and dosed by a clinician. Still, before starting a concentrated shiitake supplement, run it past your pharmacist or prescriber.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
