Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.

What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 8 active ingredients.

Natto LP contains 8 active ingredients, most of them digestive enzymes. Protease, amylase, lipase, cellulase, peptidase, and glucoamylase are all enzymes that help break down different types of food — proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and fiber.

Nattokinase is a fibrin-dissolving enzyme derived from natto (fermented soybeans) that may have blood-thinning effects. The product also contains ionic trace minerals.

The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose, and the formula includes water and rice extract as inactive ingredients.

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Heart and circulatory health with systemic enzymes.
  • We looked for evidence on: Angina, Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular disease (CVD), Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) — and 4 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Nattokinase is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Angina (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Nattokinase is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular disease (CVD), Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, and more.

The evidence on effectiveness in our data is limited. For the enzymes in this product — protease, lipase — we have insufficient reliable evidence to rate them for digestive complaints like dyspepsia (indigestion) or inflammatory bowel disease.

Nattokinase similarly has insufficient reliable evidence for cardiovascular conditions like angina, atherosclerosis, or heart disease. So while these ingredients are in the formula, we don't have solid clinical proof they work for any of those purposes.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 3 of the 3 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 3 of 3.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 3 of 3.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

The digestive enzymes protease and lipase are generally well tolerated by most adults, though some people report mild digestive upset or allergic reactions. Protease has rarely triggered allergic reactions in occupational settings through airborne exposure.

Nattokinase is generally tolerated short-term, but its blood-thinning effect means caution for anyone with bleeding risk. During pregnancy, protease and nattokinase safety data is limited — protease and nattokinase are best avoided in pregnancy unless your doctor prescribes them, and lipase should only be used if your doctor advises it.

For breastfeeding, protease, lipase, and nattokinase all have insufficient safety data; check with your healthcare provider before using any of them.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 3 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Nattokinase.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 289 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Natto LP, double-check with your own doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran, heparin, or aspirin — nattokinase raises bleeding risk. Also flag any blood pressure medications you're on, as nattokinase may lower pressure further.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Natto LP is primarily a digestive enzyme supplement, but it contains nattokinase, which can affect blood thinners and blood pressure medications — so it's not the right choice if you take those drugs without checking first. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

For digestive support specifically, the evidence on these enzymes is thin.

Natto LP by Allegany Nutrition: Common Questions

Does Natto LP by Allegany Nutrition interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Natto LP has a known interaction with 289 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Natto LP contains 8 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take Natto LP if I'm on aspirin or another blood thinner?
No — not without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first. Nattokinase in this product has blood-thinning effects of its own, and combining it with anticoagulants or antiplatelets can increase your bleeding risk. There's even a case report of someone who had brain bleeding after adding nattokinase to aspirin. Clear it with your healthcare provider before starting.
Is Natto LP safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The safety data is too limited to say yes. Nattokinase, protease, and lipase all lack solid safety information in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist — they can weigh the risks and benefits for your specific situation.
What does nattokinase do?
Nattokinase is an enzyme from fermented soybeans that can thin the blood and dissolve fibrin (a protein involved in clots). In this product it's meant to support circulation, but we don't have reliable evidence it works for heart disease, atherosclerosis, or other cardiovascular conditions.
Will these enzymes help my digestion?
The product contains several digestive enzymes — protease, lipase, amylase, cellulase, peptidase, and glucoamylase — but the clinical evidence for them in conditions like indigestion or inflammatory bowel disease is insufficient. So we can't say whether they'll work for you.
Does Natto LP contain any major allergens?
It's made from natto (fermented soybeans), so nattokinase comes from soy. If you're allergic to natto or soy, you should avoid this product — allergic reactions to nattokinase have been reported and can include anaphylaxis in sensitive people.
Are there any other ingredients I should know about?
The capsule is vegetable cellulose, and the formula includes water and rice extract as fillers. Most of the active ingredients are enzymes that help break down different types of food, plus ionic trace minerals for mineral supplementation.
