NeuroBiota contains 9 active ingredients, all of them probiotic bacteria—live microorganisms meant to support your gut health. The main strains are Lactobacillus acidophilus (La-14), Bifidobacterium lactis (Bl-04), Lactobacillus paracasei (Lpc-37), Lactobacillus casei (Lc-11), Lactobacillus plantarum (Lp-115), Lactobacillus helveticus (Rosell-52), Lactobacillus rhamnosus (GG), Bifidobacterium longum (Rosell-175), and Lactobacillus brevis (Lbr-135).
Some of these are organized under proprietary blends—ProBlend and NeuroBlend—which means the exact amount of each strain isn't individually listed. The inactive ingredients are a vegetable capsule, microcrystalline cellulose (a filler), and magnesium stearate (a lubricant used in capsule production).
Does it work?

The evidence for NeuroBiota's strains is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus shows possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis; it's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease and has insufficient evidence for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Lactobacillus helveticus and Bifidobacterium longum have insufficient reliable evidence to rate them for any of their listed claims—allergic rhinitis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, cognitive function, depression, rotaviral diarrhea, exercise-induced respiratory infections, age-related cognitive decline, anxiety, asthma, and athletic performance. The data we hold doesn't establish whether these strains are effective for those purposes.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most common side effects from probiotics are gastrointestinal—epigastric discomfort, abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, and burping—but these are uncommon.
Rash and itching have been reported in a clinical trial, though it's unclear whether the L. acidophilus strain itself, other ingredients, or the combination was responsible. A serious but rare concern exists: because these are live organisms, there is some theoretical risk of infection if they translocate (move from where they belong) in vulnerable patients.
Cases of bacteremia, sepsis, and other serious infections have been documented, though most occur in critically ill or immunocompromised individuals. The safety data for Lactobacillus helveticus and Bifidobacterium longum are limited, so caution is advised, especially for anyone who is seriously ill or has a compromised immune system.
For pregnancy, Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe and Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe; data for Lactobacillus helveticus during pregnancy and lactation are not on file. NeuroBiota by NS NeuroScience contains three probiotic strains—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus helveticus, and Bifidobacterium longum—that interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious documented concern is a Moderate-severity interaction: all three of these live-organism ingredients may lose effectiveness if you take antibiotics at the same time, because the antibiotics can kill a significant portion of the beneficial bacteria in the supplement.

The issue is straightforward: these probiotics contain live, active microorganisms. When you take an antibiotic simultaneously, it doesn't discriminate—it can wipe out the probiotic organisms along with the harmful bacteria it's meant to target.
The fix is simple: separate the timing. Your doctor or pharmacist can advise you on how many hours apart to take them so each one works as intended.
