Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: oleuropein (a compound from olives) and lemon balm, which is an herbal extract. The label states it delivers 22% oleuropein.
The remaining content is inactive ingredients — rice concentrate, cellulose, maltodextrin, rice extract blend, and silica — which are fillers and capsule materials.
Does it work?
Not established
Lemon balm, one of the active ingredients, is possibly effective for cold sores and stress relief based on available evidence. It's also possibly effective for depression.
The evidence on oleuropein isn't established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lemon balm is generally well tolerated for short-term use in healthy adults, though high doses and long-term safety haven't been well studied. In trials, dizziness and sedation were reported but didn't occur more often than with placebo.
One rare case of heart rhythm changes (atrioventricular block) was reported after use of a multi-ingredient product containing lemon balm, though it's unclear whether lemon balm was responsible. During pregnancy, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so the safety data advises against it unless your doctor advises otherwise.
While breastfeeding, limited safety information exists — talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check CNS depressants — medications that make you drowsy or relax your nervous system (sedatives, sleep aids, anxiety drugs, some pain relievers) — because lemon balm may add to their effect. Also check if you take thyroid hormone replacement, since lemon balm might interfere with how it works.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take sedating medications or thyroid hormone replacement, check your exact medications with our tool before starting this product. Lemon balm appears generally well tolerated short-term, but we couldn't check oleuropein for interactions.

Lemon Balm
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of lemon balm might have additive effects with CNS depressant drugs.
Lemon balm seems to have CNS depressant activity in animals and in humans.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, lemon balm might interfere with thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
In vitro, constituents of lemon balm extract bind to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), preventing TSH receptor-binding and leading to the inhibition of TSH-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity. In animals, lemon balm extract has been shown to decrease levels of circulating TSH and inhibit thyroid secretion.
