by Ra Herbals
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Organic Burdock Root against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Organic Burdock Root by Ra Herbals
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This liquid contains one active ingredient: burdock root. It's a single-ingredient product steeped in a base of cane alcohol and distilled water.
Burdock is a plant root that's been used traditionally in herbal medicine for various skin and wellness purposes.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that burdock works for the conditions listed on the label—acne, aging skin, breast cancer, common cold, and atopic dermatitis (eczema). For all of these, the research is insufficient to rate its effectiveness.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means we don't have reliable evidence in our data to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Burdock is generally well tolerated when used as a food or for short-term use in healthy adults, though human safety data are limited overall. Allergic reactions—including contact dermatitis and, very rarely, severe reactions—have been reported.
One case of liver injury was reported in someone taking a detox tea containing burdock and other herbs, but it's unclear whether burdock was the cause. Don't use medicinal amounts during pregnancy; there isn't enough safety data and burdock may affect the uterus.
Similarly, avoid medicinal use while breastfeeding due to insufficient safety information.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check all blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs with the search tool on this page—that includes warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, and similar medications. Burdock may theoretically increase your bleeding risk if combined with these.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Burdock root is a traditional herbal remedy that's been used for centuries with few noted side effects, but the research supporting it for specific health claims is thin. It's safest for someone looking to try a traditional remedy who isn't pregnant, breastfeeding, or on blood-thinning medications.
Talk to your pharmacist before adding it to your routine, especially if you take any anticlotting drugs.
