ProBiota Infant Drops contains five active probiotic ingredients: Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, Bifidobacterium breve BR-3, Lactobacillus reuteri LRE02, Lactobacillus rhamnosus LR-5, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BS-1. These are live beneficial bacteria meant to support infant digestive and immune health.
The liquid also contains sunflower oil as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold is limited. For Bifidobacterium breve, we found insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and atopic disease.
It appears possibly ineffective for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis. We don't have effectiveness ratings on file for the other four probiotic strains in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bifidobacterium breve is generally well tolerated in healthy infants, but caution is advised if your baby is very ill or immunocompromised. Probiotics are often considered low-risk, but evidence is limited — use only under your doctor's guidance.
Rare cases of Bifidobacterium bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream) have been reported in critically ill infants and preterm infants taking probiotics, including B. breve. In one hospital review of 298 neonatal patients who received B. breve over five years, bacteremia occurred in six (2%).
Bloating and flatulence have been reported with probiotic use generally, though not specifically linked to B. breve. The safety data for the other four ingredients in this product aren't on file.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
