What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic-10 25 Billion against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product delivers 10 active probiotic bacterial strains totaling 25 billion colony-forming units per capsule. The strains are Bifidobacterium breve, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis — a broad mix meant to support your gut bacteria balance.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, fructooligosaccharides, ascorbyl palmitate, and silicon dioxide. These are fillers, binders, and stabilizers that help the capsule hold together and preserve the live cultures.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for what these strains can do varies. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum is possibly effective for atopic dermatitis (eczema), high cholesterol, ulcerative colitis, and the common cold. Bifidobacterium breve and Bifidobacterium longum show insufficient evidence for most conditions we checked — we simply don't have strong data yet.
For Streptococcus thermophilus, the evidence is also insufficient across the conditions studied. Several ingredients' effectiveness hasn't been rated in our data, so we can't speak to their benefits.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The individual strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though probiotics as a group carry limited safety data. There's a rare but documented concern: in critically ill, immunocompromised, or very young patients (especially preterm infants), these live bacteria have occasionally caused bloodstream infections (bacteremia) or sepsis.
This risk is highest in people on antibiotics, with central catheters, or with severely weakened immune systems — not in otherwise healthy people. Mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea have been reported but are uncommon.
For pregnancy, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus thermophilus, and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum are rated possibly safe; Bifidobacterium breve has no pregnancy rating on file. Talk with your doctor before starting during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Separate administration from antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity). If you're on any antibiotics, ask your pharmacist how many hours apart to take them — usually at least 2–3 hours.
No other medication interactions are documented for the strains we could check, but always confirm your full medication list here before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This 10-strain blend suits people looking to support gut health or those recovering from antibiotic use — as long as you separate the timing. If you're very ill, immunocompromised, on a ventilator, or have a central catheter, check with your doctor first; the risk of infection is real in that context.
Anyone taking antibiotics should space this product a few hours away from their antibiotic dose. Chat with your pharmacist about whether this is right for your specific situation.

Probiotic-10 25 Billion by NOW Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Probiotic-10 25 Billion from NOW contains live bacterial strains, and several of them interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is a Moderate interaction: taking this product while on antibiotics might reduce how well the probiotics work. Since these capsules contain live organisms, antibiotics can kill a significant portion of them.
The affected strains are Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum — all respond the same way. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
To protect the probiotics' effectiveness, separate when you take them from when you take antibiotics. Ask your pharmacist or doctor how many hours apart to space them; it's usually a few hours.
We couldn't check Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis — no interaction data are on file for these strains. Streptococcus thermophilus showed no documented interactions in our data.
