PureBi-Ome Intensive contains 5 active ingredients: a probiotic blend made up of Saccharomyces boulardii (a beneficial yeast), two different strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis, and Bifidobacterium bifidum. These are live microorganisms meant to support your gut flora.
The capsules also contain vegetarian capsule material, plant fiber, and silica as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Saccharomyces boulardii is listed as possibly effective for rotaviral diarrhea, travelers' diarrhea, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, necrotizing enterocolitis, Clostridioides difficile infection, and Helicobacter pylori. The Lactobacillus acidophilus strains are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but possibly ineffective for atopic disease; evidence for acute respiratory distress syndrome is insufficient.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections, with insufficient evidence for allergic rhinitis, Alzheimer disease, and generalized anxiety disorder. We hold no effectiveness data for Bifidobacterium lactis.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Saccharomyces boulardii is generally well tolerated in healthy adults but should be avoided by people who are critically ill or immunocompromised; rare cases of fungemia (yeast infection in the bloodstream) have been reported, particularly in ICU patients or those with central catheters. It has rarely caused gastrointestinal complaints like abdominal cramps, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite.
The Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though uncommon gastrointestinal side effects like abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea can occur when taking them with other probiotics. Rare cases of serious infection (bacteremia, sepsis, abscess) have been reported with Lactobacillus acidophilus, though these typically occur in people with underlying conditions or catheters.
We hold no pregnancy or lactation safety data for Saccharomyces boulardii; Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe in pregnancy.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
