PureBiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking PureBiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
PureBiotic contains 13 active probiotic ingredients—live bacterial strains including five Bifidobacterium species and eight Lactobacillus species. These are beneficial microorganisms often called "good bacteria" that are meant to support your gut health.
The inactive ingredients are a vegetarian capsule, inulin (a prebiotic fiber), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and potato starch.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for probiotics in this product is mixed and varies by strain. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is also possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Helicobacter pylori (a stomach bacteria), and bacterial vaginosis. However, for most of the other conditions listed—allergic rhinitis, anxiety, cognitive decline, asthma, and others—the evidence in our data is insufficient to rate these ingredients.
Because this is a multi-strain formula and the evidence differs by strain and condition, we can't tell you whether the product as a whole works for any particular purpose. Talk with your doctor about whether probiotics make sense for your specific situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, several safety notes apply: caution is advised for anyone who is critically ill, immunocompromised, or has a weakened immune system, since there have been rare cases of bacterial bloodstream infection (bacteremia) or sepsis in these high-risk groups.
Mild gastrointestinal side effects—bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea—have been reported uncommonly with probiotic use, though these haven't been specifically linked to each strain in this product. Pregnancy and lactation data are limited; Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, but we hold no pregnancy or lactation data for most of the other ingredients.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a serious underlying illness.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, space out your doses of this product and your antibiotic by several hours—antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in this supplement. Check your exact medications with the tool on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
PureBiotic is a multi-strain probiotic meant to support gut health, with the strongest evidence for IBS and antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The main thing to watch is spacing it apart from antibiotic medications.
If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

PureBiotic by MD Prescriptives Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
PureBiotic by MD Prescriptives is a 13-ingredient probiotic with documented interactions affecting antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is that five of the active bacterial ingredients—Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus bulgaricus—can theoretically reduce their own effectiveness when taken at the same time as antibiotics. Since these probiotics contain live organisms, antibiotics may kill a significant portion of them.
The solution is simple: space out your doses. Take your antibiotic and this product several hours apart, or ask your pharmacist for timing guidance.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. We could not check three other ingredients in this product—Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus brevis, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactococcus lactis—so we hold no data on whether they interact with any drugs.
Use the medication checker on this page to verify your exact prescriptions before you start.
