Pure Essence PureBiotics Restore is a probiotic formula containing 11 active ingredients, all beneficial bacteria strains. You'll find Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, and several others—Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Lactobacillus casei.
These are live microorganisms designed to support your gut flora. The capsule also contains microcrystalline cellulose, L-leucine, silicon dioxide, and a vegetable capsule—those are inactive ingredients that help deliver the active bacteria.

The evidence for these probiotic strains varies widely. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, though it's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease and the evidence is insufficient for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
For Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus bulgaricus, the evidence we have is insufficient to rate them for conditions like age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, anxiety, asthma, acne, and the common cold. In short, there's some evidence backing Lactobacillus acidophilus for a few conditions, but for most of the other strains in this product, we don't have enough reliable data yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though you should check with your doctor before using it. Gastrointestinal side effects—like abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea—are uncommon but possible when taking it with other probiotics.
Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus bulgaricus are also generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised if you're seriously ill or immune-compromised, since rare cases of bacterial infection have been reported in critically ill patients. Pregnancy and lactation: Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, but there's limited lactation data on file.
Bifidobacterium longum is possibly safe for both pregnancy and lactation. Lactobacillus bulgaricus has limited safety data for pregnancy and lactation, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.

Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
