Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Shilajeet Mumiyo is a single-ingredient product — it contains one active ingredient: an extract of black asphaltum, also known as shilajit. This is a naturally occurring tar-like substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine.

The product has no inactive fillers or other listed ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Shilajit product and its label doesn't state a use — see Shilajit's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The effectiveness of shilajit for its commonly marketed uses is not well established. The evidence for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteoporosis all falls short of what's needed to make a clear claim.

If you're considering this product for any of these purposes, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the current evidence supports it for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of cases have been reported. One person developed a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) after previous use at a lower dose, requiring emergency treatment.

Headache has been reported rarely in clinical research. A case of high blood pressure associated with potassium imbalance was reported in someone who used shilajit during pregnancy, though it's unclear whether shilajit was the actual cause.

Because unpurified shilajit may contain heavy metals or other contaminants, use only tested, purified brands. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Shilajit.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take antidiabetes drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product — shilajit may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with these medications.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

Shilajeet Mumiyo by Ayush Herbs: Common Questions

Does Shilajeet Mumiyo by Ayush Herbs interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Shilajeet Mumiyo has a known interaction with 86 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Shilajeet Mumiyo contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take Shilajeet Mumiyo if I have diabetes?
If you take diabetes medications, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist first. Shilajit may lower blood sugar and can make diabetes drugs work even stronger, which raises the risk of your blood sugar dropping too low.
Is it safe to take this during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
The safety data advises against it. There isn't enough data to know it's safe while breastfeeding, and the pregnancy data raises concerns — only use it if your doctor agrees it's right for you.
What should I look for when buying Shilajeet Mumiyo?
Make sure you buy a purified, tested brand. Unpurified shilajit can contain heavy metals or other contaminants, so quality matters.
What are the side effects?
Most people tolerate it well. Headache has been reported rarely. A severe allergic reaction has been reported in one case, and one person developed high blood pressure and low potassium during use — though it's not confirmed shilajit caused it.
