Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: shilajit, a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. At 200 mg per tablet, it's the sole component — there are no other active ingredients or fillers listed.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Shilajit product and its label doesn't state a use — see Shilajit's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence on shilajit's effectiveness isn't established in our data. We rate it as having insufficient reliable evidence for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteopenia (low bone density).

That means human studies are either too small, too few, or too mixed to say whether it works for these conditions.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of cases have been reported. One person developed an allergy that worsened with exercise, leading to a severe reaction (anaphylaxis) after repeated doses; another reported rare headache.

One case of high blood pressure was linked to shilajit use during pregnancy, though a direct cause wasn't proven. During pregnancy, the safety data advises against it — there isn't enough data on safety, and there's a contamination risk.

Avoid it while breastfeeding; safety is unknown. Unpurified shilajit may contain heavy metals or other contaminants, so use only purified, tested brands.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Shilajit.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check your exact medications before taking this product, especially antidiabetes drugs like metformin or glibenclamide — shilajit can increase their blood-sugar-lowering effect and raise the risk of hypoglycemia (Moderate severity).

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Shilajit may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional remedies, but evidence for its benefits is sparse. If you take diabetes medications, talk to your pharmacist before starting — there's a real risk of low blood sugar.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
