Sleep Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Sleep against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Sleep by Warrior Strong Wellness
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Warrior Strong Wellness Sleep contains 2 active ingredients: L-theanine and apigenin. L-theanine is an amino acid that may help with relaxation and cognitive function, while apigenin is a plant compound.
The capsule also contains three inactive ingredients—hypromellose, rice flour, and stearate—which are fillers and binders that give the supplement its form.
Does it work?
Not established
For L-theanine, the evidence supports it as possibly effective for cognitive function. For age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and cancer, we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate whether it works.
We hold no effectiveness data for apigenin.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-theanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults when used short-term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. The most common side effects are headaches and drowsiness; some people also report longer sleep duration and more vivid dreams.
One case of facial tics was reported in a child, but it wasn't clearly tied to the supplement. There isn't enough safety data on L-theanine in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, so it's best to avoid it during those times.
We hold no safety data for apigenin.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, check with your pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medications—L-theanine could potentiate their effect and lower your pressure too much. Also flag any sedatives, sleep aids, pain relievers, or serotonergic drugs like certain antidepressants.
We could not check apigenin against our database, so mention all your medications to be thorough.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This sleep formula may help with relaxation, but it's important to check it against any blood pressure or neurological medications you take. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking multiple prescriptions, talk to your pharmacist before starting.

Sleep by Warrior Strong Wellness Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Warrior Strong Wellness Sleep contains L-theanine, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives): L-theanine may lower blood pressure on its own, and combining it with your blood pressure drug could push your pressure too low.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L-theanine also has minor interactions with drugs that depress your central nervous system (CNS depressants)—including sedatives, sleep aids, and some pain relievers. While the concern is mainly theoretical, there's a possibility of extra drowsiness or sedation.
It also has a minor interaction with serotonergic drugs (medications that affect serotonin, like some antidepressants), though no cases of serotonin syndrome have been reported with L-theanine.
We could not check apigenin, the second ingredient, against our interaction database. Altogether, these interactions span 563 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your specific prescriptions before you start.

L-Theanine
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theanine might lower blood pressure, potentiating the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that theanine can lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive animals. Theoretically, concomitant use of theanine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate the antihypertensive activity.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, theanine might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Theoretically, theanine may compete with glutamate and/or increase plasma gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels, which could cause CNS depression. In one clinical study, some subjects taking oral theanine reported drowsiness.
Serotonergic Drugs
Clinical studies regarding the effects of L-theanine on serotonin levels are conflicting. Some studies suggest it can increase serotonin levels in the brain while others report that it may decrease them. Nevertheless, there have been no reports of l-theanine being a causative agent in serotonergic-related side effects or serotonin syndrome.
