Here's the simple version: benazepril (Lotensin) already lowers your blood pressure, and theanine may nudge it down a little further. Put them together and, in theory, your pressure could dip more than expected. If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or a bit woozy when you stand up quickly.

I want to be honest about how solid this is, though. The concern comes from animal studies, not human trials, so it's mostly theoretical and on the mild side. Most people won't notice anything. Still, if you're starting theanine, it's smart to check your blood pressure now and then and watch for dizziness. Have a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and don't change your benazepril on your own.

What Is Benazepril Used For?

Brand name: Lotensin

Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under the generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks.

It can be used on its own or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when blood pressure needs extra control. Lotensin is specifically indicated for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure.
