Super Shield Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Super Shield against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy
Super Shield is a dietary supplement by Blue Rock Holistics with 12 active ingredients. Its ingredients are commonly taken for digestive health and balance, diarrhea (including antibiotic-related), vaginal yeast and bacterial infections.Based on those ingredients, 182 medications have a known interaction with it, the most serious rated moderate. The ingredients most likely to interact are Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS 1), Bifidobacterium breve (BR03), Bifidobacterium bifidum (ATCC 15696). Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Super Shield contains 12 active ingredients, all probiotics—live beneficial bacteria and organisms. The lineup includes Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS 1), Bifidobacterium breve (BR03), Lactobacillus paracasei (ATCC 393), Bifidobacterium bifidum (ATCC 15696), Lactobacillus rhamnosus (HN 001), Streptococcus thermophilus (DSM 20617), Lactobacillus bulgaricus (NX 5856), Bacillus coagulans (ATCC 7050), Bifidobacterium infantis (NX 5845), Lactobacillus plantarum (NX 5870), Lactobacillus salivarius (NX 5863), and FOS (a prebiotic fiber that feeds the bacteria).
The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose with inactive ingredients including rice flour, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS.
For everything else in the blend—allergic rhinitis, Alzheimer disease, diabetes, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and several other conditions—the evidence in our data is either insufficient to rate or the ingredient is possibly ineffective. If you're taking this for a specific condition, talk it over with your doctor about whether the data supports it for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bacillus coagulans are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though Bifidobacterium breve and Bifidobacterium bifidum carry extra caution for people who are very ill or immunocompromised, and Bacillus coagulans has limited safety data overall. Because all these probiotics are live organisms, there's a theoretical concern that in rare cases—especially in critically ill patients or those with weakened immune systems—they could cause serious infections like bacteremia or sepsis; however, this risk is considered very low in otherwise healthy people.
Mild gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea have been reported but are uncommon. Pregnancy safety for Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Streptococcus thermophilus is rated possibly safe, though we hold no data on Bifidobacterium breve and Bacillus coagulans for pregnancy and lactation.
If you're pregnant or nursing, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start Super Shield, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're taking any antibiotic drugs. The live organisms in this probiotic can be inactivated by antibiotics if you take them at the same time, so timing and spacing your doses matters.
No other medication types are documented to interact with the ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a standard multi-strain probiotic mix most commonly used for gut and digestive support. It's generally well tolerated, but if you're on antibiotics, timing matters—separate the two by a few hours so the antibiotic doesn't kill off the probiotics.
If you're immunocompromised, critically ill, pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first. The same goes if you're taking it for a specific medical condition—we can tell you what the data shows, but only your healthcare provider can say whether it makes sense for you.

Super Shield by Blue Rock Holistics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Shield by Blue Rock Holistics is a probiotic capsule that interacts with antibiotic drugs through its Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bacillus coagulans content.
All four of these live-organism probiotics carry a Moderate interaction with antibiotics: taking them at the same time may reduce the effectiveness of the probiotic because antibiotics can kill the active organisms. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The key takeaway is timing. If you're on an antibiotic, separate when you take it from when you take this probiotic—your doctor or pharmacist can tell you the best gap (often a few hours).
Don't skip the probiotic or the antibiotic; just stagger them.
We couldn't check several ingredients for interactions: FOS, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Lactobacillus salivarius. That doesn't mean they're free of interactions—just that we have no data on file for them.

For each ingredient in Super Shield with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS 1)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium breve (BR03)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum (ATCC 15696)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bacillus coagulans (ATCC 7050)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
