Super Shield Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Super Shield against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Super Shield by Blue Rock Holistics
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Super Shield contains 12 active probiotic ingredients — live beneficial bacteria and yeast strains meant to support gut health. The main strains checked are Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS 1), Bifidobacterium breve (BR03), Bifidobacterium bifidum, Streptococcus thermophilus, Bacillus coagulans, and several others including Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus salivarius, and Bifidobacterium infantis.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: rice flour, vegetable cellulose, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for probiotics is mixed and depends on the condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, though possibly ineffective for atopic disease.
Bifidobacterium breve and Bifidobacterium bifidum show insufficient evidence for most conditions tested, though B. bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS.
Streptococcus thermophilus has insufficient evidence for the conditions we hold data on. For many of these conditions, we simply don't have enough reliable evidence yet to say whether the product will work for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotic strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. However, the product contains live microorganisms, so there's a theoretical concern of infection in people with very weak immune systems, critical illness, or indwelling catheters — rare but documented.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea can occur, though they're uncommon. One trial reported rare cases of rash and itching, but it's unclear if probiotics were the cause.
Pregnancy and lactation safety data aren't on file for most of these strains — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before use if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs (Moderate interaction) — separate these doses from Super Shield. Four of the product's checked strains lose effectiveness if antibiotics kill them off at the same time.
Ask your pharmacist for the right timing. We hold no interaction data for five of the 12 ingredients, so mention Super Shield when you review your medications with us.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Super Shield is a multi-strain probiotic aimed at IBS, digestive health, and antibiotic-related diarrhea. It's generally well tolerated in healthy people, but you should separate doses from antibiotics to keep the probiotics effective.
If you have a weakened immune system, are critically ill, or take antibiotics regularly, check with your pharmacist first. Pregnancy and nursing safety isn't established — discuss with your provider if those apply to you.

Super Shield by Blue Rock Holistics Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Shield by Blue Rock Holistics is a 12-ingredient probiotic formula, and several of its bacterial strains interact with one medication type.
The most serious documented interaction is with antibiotic drugs (Moderate severity): Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bacillus coagulans may all lose effectiveness if taken at the same time as antibiotics, because antibiotics can kill the live organisms in these preparations. You'll want to separate doses — ask your pharmacist for specific timing.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Streptococcus thermophilus, one of the checked ingredients, has no documented interactions in our data. We were unable to check five others — FOS, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Lactobacillus salivarius — because we don't hold interaction data for them.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Before you start Super Shield, run your exact medications through the interaction checker on this page, especially if you take antibiotics.

For each ingredient in Super Shield with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS 1)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium breve (BR03)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum (ATCC 15696)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bacillus coagulans (ATCC 7050)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
