Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This powder contains two active ingredients: stevia leaf extract and monk fruit juice concentrate. Stevia is a zero-calorie sweetener derived from the stevia plant, and monk fruit juice concentrate is another natural sweetener with no calories.
Both are used in place of sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that stevia works for diabetes, high blood pressure, or weight loss — the data rates these uses as insufficient. While a small amount of research suggests stevia may lower blood sugar or blood pressure in some people, other studies contradict those findings, so we can't say for certain how well it works for these purposes.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Purified stevia in typical food amounts is generally well tolerated. At supplement doses — especially high-dose supplements — safety data are limited, so use caution.
The most common side effects (seen in a small number of trial participants) were abdominal bloating, dizziness, headache, muscle pain, nausea, and numbness; most of these resolve after the first week. Allergic reactions are rare but possible.
Data on safety during pregnancy and lactation are not on file for stevia, so you'd need to talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check your medications if you take lithium (a mood stabilizer), any blood pressure medication, or diabetes medication. Stevia can affect how these drugs work in your body.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Sure Stevia Plus Monk Fruit is a calorie-free sweetener option. If you take lithium, blood pressure medication, or diabetes medication, check with your pharmacist first — stevia can interact with these drugs.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor, since safety data are limited.

Formula
KAL Stevia + Monk Fruit is a pleasant tasting blend of both ingredietns.
Monk fruit contains Mogroside V, an active ingredient which is 300x sweeter than cane sugar and low in calories
What is Stevia? Stevia extract is derived from the leaves of a small shrub of the chrysanthemum family called stevia. It grows wild in Paraguay and Brazil and is cultivated in Japan and China. Stevia extract contains steviosides, a substance that makes it unique among over 300 species of stevia plants. The extract is calorie-free and should not affect blood glucose levels in most individuals. Unlike the whole herb, the extract does not have a pronounced aftertaste. Monk Fruit, also known as Luo Han, comes from the plant Momordica grosvenori. It contains an active ingredient called Mogroside V that is intensely sweet. Monk fruit is 300 times sweeter than common table sugar or sucrose. It is low calorie and low glycemic, and should not affect blood sugar levels in most individuals.

Sure Stevia Plus Monk Fruit by KAL Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sure Stevia Plus Monk Fruit by KAL contains stevia leaf extract, which does interact with a number of medications.
The most serious concern is lithium — a mood stabilizer used for bipolar disorder. Stevia may slow how your body clears lithium, causing levels to build up and potentially reach unsafe amounts.
If you take lithium, you'll need to talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Stevia can also lower blood pressure, so combining it with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) could theoretically increase the risk of dizziness or lightheadedness. In the same way, stevia may lower blood sugar, which means it could work together with diabetes medications in a way that drops your blood sugar too far.
Both of these are listed as minor concerns, but they're still worth checking.
We were unable to check the monk fruit juice concentrate — we hold no interaction data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 256 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Sure Stevia Plus Monk Fruit with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Stevia leaf extract
Lithium
Theoretically, stevia might decrease clearance and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stevia extracts might have diuretic activity. Theoretically, increased reabsorption of lithium along with sodium might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, stevia might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when combined with antidiabetes drugs.
Preliminary clinical research in patients with type 2 diabetes suggests that taking a single dose of stevia extract 1000 mg reduces postprandial blood glucose levels when taken with a meal. However, other clinical research in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes suggests that taking stevioside 250 mg three times daily does not significantly affect blood glucose levels or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) after three months of treatment.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining stevia or stevia constituents with antihypertensive agents might increase the risk of hypotension.
Stevia extract and stevioside might lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. However, other clinical research suggests that stevioside does not significantly lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
