Tri Active Biotics Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Tri Active Biotics against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Tri Active Biotics contains 15 active ingredients, most of which are live probiotic bacteria. You'll find Lactobacillus strains (bulgaricus, casei, rhamnosus, acidophilus in two forms, paracasei, plantarum, and salivarius), Bifidobacterium strains (longum infantis, longum, and bifidum), Streptococcus thermophilus, and Lactospore.
The product also includes fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a type of carbohydrate that acts as a prebiotic—food for the beneficial bacteria. The remaining ingredients are inactive fillers and capsule materials like glycerin, microcrystalline cellulose, and vegetable capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotic strains is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum show possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and L. acidophilus is rated possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori and bacterial vaginosis.
However, most other conditions listed—hay fever, asthma, anxiety, cognitive decline, and respiratory infections—lack sufficient reliable evidence to establish whether these strains help. Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) also have insufficient reliable evidence for constipation, diabetes, high cholesterol, or osteoporosis.
In short: some strains may help with specific digestive issues, but for most other uses the research is too thin to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, though anyone who is very ill or has a weakened immune system should check with their doctor first. There's a rare but documented concern: live probiotic bacteria in supplement form have caused serious infections (bacteremia, sepsis, infection of the heart lining) in critically ill patients and premature infants; however, these cases are uncommon in people with intact immune systems.
Gas, bloating, and flatulence can occur when starting probiotics or at higher doses, though these tend to be mild. For pregnancy, Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus (both present here) are rated possibly safe, but specific safety data during breastfeeding are limited for most strains—talk with your doctor before taking this while nursing.
FOS may cause abdominal pain, bloating, and flatulence, especially at doses above 10 grams per day.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotics are the main medication type to double-check before taking Tri Active Biotics. Antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in this product, making it less effective—your doctor or pharmacist can advise whether to separate doses or skip the supplement while you're on antibiotics.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic blend that may help with IBS or antibiotic-related diarrhea, though evidence for many other conditions is lacking. If you take antibiotics, you'll want to space them out from this product so the bacteria aren't killed off.
Anyone with a weakened immune system, serious illness, or an indwelling catheter should talk with their doctor first. Run your current medications through the checker on this page and discuss the product with your own pharmacist or doctor before starting.

Formulation
Advanced Delivery System Innovative 3 stage delivery Immune support/digestive health
Moisture defense
100% Non-GMO
How our advanced multi-step delivery works! Stage 1 - Prebiotic Release TriActive releases a liquid prebiotic into the stomach where it balances the pH in the gut, discourages the growth of unfriendly bacteria, and establishes a path of food for the probiotic. Stage 2 - Probiotic Protection The inner capsule of TriActive's probiotic is protected from degradation and travels past the stomach. Stage 3 - Probiotic Multiplication TriActiv probiotic is released into the intestine where the prebiotic has established a pathway of food for it to flourish. This creates an environment that allows for CFU multiplication, providing a higher level of benefit. Featuring Advanced Probiotics Probiotics are organisms such as bacteria or yeast that are believed to improve health. Researchers believe that some digestive disorders happen when the balance of friendly bacteria in the intestines becomes disturbed. Probiotics can improve intestinal function and maintain the integrity of the lining of the intestines. These friendly organisms make up to 70% of the human immune system.
Contains No: Soy, milk, egg, wheat, gluten, peanuts/tree nuts, animal byproduct, or artificial colors.
Method for CFU multiplication TriActive Biotics, features capsule-in-capsule technology which is superior to other brands. Our prebiotic releases in the gut where it flourishes, unlike competing delayed release (D/R) caps. Probiotics release in the prebiotic filled small intestine for superior nutrient absorption. 14 strains of probiotics are used covering all aspects of probiotic needs. This ensures consumers get the full spectrum of health benefits. This product was manufactured in a GMP approved facility.

Tri Active Biotics by Essential Source Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Tri Active Biotics by Essential Source contains several probiotic bacteria strains that interact with antibiotics.
Through its Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium longum infantis, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus (two strains), and Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1 content, this product may decrease the effectiveness of the probiotics themselves when taken with antibiotics. Since these are live and active organisms, antibiotics can kill a significant number of them.
The most serious documented concern is Moderate severity: antibiotics may reduce how well the probiotics work.
