by Ageless Foundation Laboratories
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking UltraDerm Gold against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of UltraDerm Gold by Ageless Foundation Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
UltraDerm Gold contains seven active ingredients designed to support skin health and joint function. Chondroitin Sulfate and Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II work on joint and connective-tissue support, while BioCell Collagen adds additional collagen components.
Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant that helps skin retain moisture. The product also includes three plant extracts: Grape seed extract, Apple skin extract, and Olive fruit extract, which provide polyphenols and other compounds, plus Polygonum cuspidatum root extract (hu zhang), a traditional plant source of resveratrol.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients — hypromellose, cellulose, and magnesium stearate — which are fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product's ingredients is mixed. Chondroitin Sulfate is rated possibly effective for cataracts and osteoarthritis, though the data note that quality varies and benefit is uncertain.
Hyaluronic Acid is possibly effective for dry eye and venous leg ulcers but has insufficient evidence for aging skin. Grape seed extract is possibly effective for chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) — the sensation of heaviness or swelling in the legs — but shows possible ineffectiveness for chemotherapy-related nausea, hay fever, and weight loss.
For the other ingredients — Apple skin extract, Olive fruit extract, and Polygonum cuspidatum root extract — the evidence available to us does not establish effectiveness for the purposes likely intended here. No data on file covers Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II or BioCell Collagen.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chondroitin Sulfate is generally well tolerated for short-term use, though the data note quality varies. Oral side effects are usually mild — abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea — but rare cases of liver damage have been reported.
Skin symptoms such as eyelid swelling, lower-limb swelling, hair loss, and rash have also been reported, particularly in combinations with glucosamine; one case of light-sensitive skin reaction and a case of asthma worsening have been reported. Hyaluronic Acid is well tolerated orally and topically; topical use may cause eczema, redness, or itching, and eye drops have rarely caused eye pain.
Grape seed extract is generally well tolerated, with mild side effects (abdominal pain, diarrhea, dry mouth, indigestion, headache, joint pain, nausea) predominating; anaphylaxis to grape skin is rare. Apple skin extract is well tolerated as whole apples, with only mild bloating or gas reported; allergic reactions including anaphylaxis are rare.
Olive fruit extract causes occasional headache or stomach discomfort. Polygonum cuspidatum root extract has limited adverse-effect data on file, though its emodin content may cause digestive upset.
Pregnancy: the data advise against Chondroitin Sulfate and Polygonum cuspidatum root extract during pregnancy. Grape seed extracts (concentrated supplements, not grapes as food) and Apple skin extract lack sufficient safety data.
Hyaluronic Acid, Olive fruit extract, and Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II have no pregnancy or breastfeeding data on file. Lactation: similar gaps exist.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Before taking UltraDerm Gold, check if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — Chondroitin Sulfate, Grape seed extract, and Polygonum cuspidatum root extract all may increase bleeding risk. If you take atenolol, fexofenadine, aliskiren, or any other OATP substrate from the Apple skin extract, separate your dose by at least two hours.
Blood pressure medications, diabetes drugs, and lithium can all be affected by Apple skin extract's impact on absorption. Medications metabolized by your liver through the CYP1A2, CYP2D6, CYP3A4, or CYP2E1 pathways may have altered levels from Grape seed extract or Polygonum cuspidatum root extract — this includes many antidepressants, pain relievers, antihistamines, and statins.
Carbamazepine (Tegretol) users should avoid Polygonum cuspidatum root extract. Estrogen therapy may be affected by Polygonum cuspidatum root extract.
Ask your pharmacist if you're unsure whether your medications fall into these categories.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
UltraDerm Gold is designed for skin and joint support, but it carries multiple documented medication interactions — notably with blood thinners, blood pressure drugs, diabetes medications, and several drugs your liver metabolizes. If you take any prescription medications, check them against the tool on this page before starting.
The evidence for aging skin is limited. Those pregnant, breastfeeding, or on warfarin, blood thinners, or drugs like atenolol, fexofenadine, or aliskiren should talk with a pharmacist first.

All Ageless products are quality tested to ensure freshness and potency through their expiration date.
Rejuvenation from the inside out One of the most common signs of aging is the dehydrating and wrinkling of our skin. As we age, the collagen level in our skin naturally declines resulting in dryness, scaling, deep lines and wrinkles, as well as loss of skin elasticity. A study has shown that a regimen of one gram of BioCell Collagen per day may improve signs of facial aging such as wrinkles and lines.

UltraDerm Gold by Ageless Foundation Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
UltraDerm Gold by Ageless Foundation Laboratories contains several ingredients with documented interactions.
The most serious is Apple skin extract, which carries a Major-severity interaction: it can significantly block the absorption of organic anion-transporting polypeptide (OATP) substrates — a group of medications including fexofenadine (Allegra), atenolol (Tenormin), and aliskiren (Tekturna) — reducing their blood levels by 58–82%. Altogether, these interactions span 1,120 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate-severity interactions are documented with Chondroitin Sulfate and blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin): the combination may increase warfarin's effect, raising your clotting time (INR). Grape seed extract interacts with multiple drug-metabolizing systems: it may affect how your liver breaks down drugs processed through CYP1A2, CYP2D6, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 pathways, and it can also increase bleeding risk with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs.
Apple skin extract additionally interacts with antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), antidiabetes drugs, and lithium — all Moderate severity — by potentially interfering with their absorption or effects.
Polygonum cuspidatum root extract (hu zhang) carries Moderate-severity interactions with blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, estrogen therapy, and several drug-metabolizing pathways (CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1). It also has a Minor-severity interaction with carbamazepine (Tegretol), an anticonvulsant.
Hyaluronic Acid and Olive fruit extract have no known interactions documented in our data. We could not check Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II or BioCell Collagen as we hold no interaction data for these ingredients.

Grape seed extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, grape extracts may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro evidence suggests that grape extracts might decrease platelet aggregation.
Cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune)
Ingesting grape juice with cyclosporine can reduce cyclosporine absorption.
A small pharmacokinetic study in healthy young adults shows that intake of purple grape juice 200 mL along with cyclosporine can decrease the absorption of cyclosporine by up to 30% when compared with water. Separate doses of grape juice and cyclosporine by at least 2 hours to avoid this interaction.

Theoretically, grape juice might reduce the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
A small pharmacokinetic study in healthy adults shows that ingestion of 200 mL of grape juice decreases phenacetin plasma levels. This is thought to be due to induction of CYP1A2.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, grape seed extract may increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that grape seed extract might inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, grape seed extract might increase the levels of CYP2E1 substrates.
In vitro and animal research suggests that grape seed proanthocyanidin extract inhibits CYP2E1 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
It is unclear if grape seed extract inhibits or induces CYP3A4; research is conflicting.
In vitro evidence suggests that grape seed extract might inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. However, evidence from animal research shows that grape seed extract may induce CYP3A4 in the liver. So far, these interactions have not been reported in humans.
Midazolam (Versed)
Theoretically, long-term intake of grape seed extract might decrease the effects of midazolam.
Animal research shows that subchronic ingestions of grape seed extract can increase the elimination of intravenous midazolam by increasing hepatic CYP3A4 activity. Single doses of grape seed extract do not appear to affect midazolam elimination.
Phenacetin
Grape juice might decrease phenacetin absorption.
A small pharmacokinetic study in healthy adults shows that ingestion of 200 mL of grape juice decreases phenacetin plasma levels. This is thought to be due to induction of cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2).
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
It is unclear if grape juice or grape seed extract inhibits CYP2C9; research is conflicting.
In vitro evidence shows that grape seed extract or grape juice might inhibit CYP2C9 enzymes. However, a small pharmacokinetic study in healthy adults shows that drinking 8 ounces of grape juice once does not affect the clearance of flurbiprofen, a probe-drug for CYP2C9 metabolism. The effects of continued grape juice consumption are unclear.
Polygonum cuspidatum root extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP1A2 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP2C19 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP2E1 enzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, a clinical study in adults with NAFLD found that adding resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks did not necessitate dose adjustments to any established medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
Estrogens
Theoretically, hu zhang might competitively inhibit the effects of estrogen replacement therapy.
In vitro research shows that hu zhang might have estrogenic activity.
Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase the effects and adverse effects of carbamazepine.
In animals, blood and tissue levels of carbamazepine were increased when given in combination with hu zhang. It is thought that increased levels of carbamazepine are due to cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inhibition. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Apple skin extract
Organic Anion-Transporting Polypeptide Substrates (Oatp)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of OATP substrates.
Research shows that consuming apple juice inhibits OATP, which reduces bioavailability of oral drugs that are substrates of OATP. Fexofenadine, atenolol, and aliskiren are substrates of OATP. Clinical research shows that coadministration of apple juice decreases bioavailability of fexofenadine by up to 78%, aliskiren by 63%, and atenolol by up to 82%. These effects appear to increase with larger quantities of apple juice. It is thought that apple juice might affect OATP for only a short time. Therefore, separating drug administration and consumption of apple juice by at least 4 hours might avoid this interaction.
Aliskiren (Tekturna, Rasilez)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of aliskiren.
Pharmacokinetic research shows that coadministration of apple juice 200 mL along with aliskiren 150 mg decreases the bioavailability of aliskiren by 63%. Apple juice seems to inhibit organic anion transporting polypeptide (OATP), which is involved in drug uptake in the gut, liver, and kidney. It is thought that apple juice might affect OATP for only a short time. Therefore, separating drug administration and consumption of apple juice by at least 4 hours might avoid this interaction.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, consuming apple juice with antidiabetes drugs might interfere with blood glucose control.
Clinical research suggests that consuming apples or drinking apple juice can raise blood glucose levels, with the effects of drinking apple juice being more significant than consuming apples.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Consuming apple juice with antihypertensive drugs might interfere with blood pressure control.
Some clinical evidence suggests that consuming apple and cherry juice can increase blood pressure in elderly patients.
Atenolol (Tenormin)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of atenolol.
Pharmacokinetic research shows that coadministration of apple juice 600-1200 mL decreases levels of atenolol by 58% to 82% in a dose-dependent manner.
Fexofenadine (Allegra)
Concomitant consumption of apple juice can significantly decrease oral absorption and blood levels of fexofenadine.
Pharmacokinetic research shows that coadministration of apple juice 400-1200 mL along with fexofenadine 60-120 mg decreases bioavailability of fexofenadine by up to 78%. Coadministration with smaller quantities of apple juice (150 mL or less) does not appear to affect the bioavailability of fexofenadine.
Lithium
There is some concern that concomitant consumption of apple juice might decrease oral absorption and blood levels of lithium.
In one case report, a patient had an undetectable serum lithium level when lithium citrate was administered with apple juice. When lithium was administered with an alternative beverage, the lithium level became detectable and the patient demonstrated clinical improvement.
Chondroitin Sulfate
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Taking chondroitin in combination with glucosamine might increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. However, the effect of chondroitin alone is unclear.
There have been multiple reports of increased international normalized ratio (INR) in patients taking warfarin with glucosamine, with or without chondroitin. The lack of reports with chondroitin alone seem to suggest that the interactions occurring in these reports may have been due to glucosamine. In two individual case reports, glucosamine/chondroitin combinations were associated with a significant increase in INR in patients previously stabilized on warfarin. Additionally, 20 voluntary case reports to the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) have linked glucosamine plus chondroitin with increased INR, bruising, and bleeding in patients who were also taking warfarin. There have also been 20 additional case reports to the World Health Organization (WHO) that link glucosamine alone, without chondroitin, to increased INR in patients taking warfarin.
