What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) at 100 mg per tablet. The tablet also includes several inactive ingredients—dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, vegetable stearin, cellulose gum, magnesium stearate, and silica—which are fillers and binders that help form and preserve the tablet.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin B6 is effective for treating sideroblastic anemia (a blood disorder) and vitamin B6 deficiency itself. It is also effective for pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy, a rare genetic seizure disorder.
The evidence is likely effective for lowering homocysteine (a blood marker linked to heart health) and possibly effective for pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting, though that use requires a doctor's oversight.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
At doses under 100 mg daily, vitamin B6 is well tolerated, with only mild side effects reported in some people—abdominal pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, loss of appetite, or drowsiness. The main safety concern is nerve damage (sensory neuropathy), which is rare at typical doses but can occur with high daily doses or very large cumulative amounts over time.
High doses over extended periods can gradually harm nerves in your hands and feet. For pregnancy, the evidence is mixed: it is rated likely safe, but also possibly unsafe depending on context, so this is one to discuss with your obstetrician.
For breastfeeding, it is rated likely safe. Because standard supplement and dietary amounts are generally considered fine, high-dose use should only happen under a doctor's guidance.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take seizure medications (phenytoin or phenobarbital), blood pressure medications, amiodarone (a heart rhythm drug), or levodopa for Parkinson's disease without carbidopa—vitamin B6 may reduce how well seizure and Parkinson's medications work or add to blood pressure effects. Also note that at very high doses over time, it can damage nerves; stick to recommended amounts unless your doctor advises otherwise.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Vitamin B6 at 100 mg is a straightforward supplement for people with B6 deficiency, sideroblastic anemia, or certain seizure disorders. If you take seizure medications, blood pressure drugs, levodopa without carbidopa, or amiodarone, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this supplement, since it may affect how those drugs work.
Talk it over with your own healthcare provider before starting, especially if you're pregnant or taking any prescription medications.

Vitamun B-6 100 mg by CHK Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CHK Nutrition's Vitamin B-6 100 mg does interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with seizure medications—high doses of vitamin B6 may reduce blood levels and effectiveness of both phenytoin (Dilantin) and phenobarbital (Luminal), potentially through increased liver metabolism. This is a moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions also exist with antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), where vitamin B6 may add to their blood-pressure-lowering effects, and with amiodarone (Cordarone), a heart rhythm medication, where B6 may worsen sun sensitivity.
There is a minor interaction with levodopa for Parkinson's disease—vitamin B6 can speed up levodopa's breakdown when taken without carbidopa. However, if you're taking Sinemet (levodopa plus carbidopa), this interaction does not occur.
Altogether, these interactions span 210 individual medications. Use the search tool on this page to check your specific prescriptions before starting this supplement.

For each ingredient in Vitamun B-6 100 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Vitamin B6
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, vitamin B6 might increase the photosensitivity caused by amiodarone.
Despite initial case reports suggesting that pyridoxine may have a protective effect against amiodarone-induced photosensitivity, preliminary clinical research suggests that pyridoxine may actually exacerbate this adverse effect.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, vitamin B6 may have additive effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Research in hypertensive rats shows that vitamin B6 can decrease systolic blood pressure. Similarly, clinical research in patients with hypertension shows that taking high doses of vitamin B6 may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, possibly by reducing plasma levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine.
Phenobarbital (Luminal)
High doses of vitamin B6 may reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenobarbital.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that vitamin B6 200 mg daily can reduce plasma levels of phenobarbital, possibly by increasing metabolism. It is not known whether lower doses have any effect. Advise people taking phenobarbital to avoid high doses of vitamin B6.
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
High doses of vitamin B6 may reduce the levels and clinical effects of phenytoin.
Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that vitamin B6 200 mg daily can reduce plasma levels of phenytoin, possibly by increasing metabolism. It is not known whether lower doses have any effect. Advise people taking phenytoin to avoid high doses of vitamin B6.
Levodopa
Vitamin B6 may increase the metabolism of levodopa when taken alone, but not when taken in conjunction with carbidopa.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) enhances the metabolism of levodopa, reducing its clinical effects. However, this interaction does not occur when carbidopa is used concurrently with levodopa (Sinemet). Therefore, it is not likely to be a problem in most people.
