Amiloride, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Vitamin B6 interacts with.

Theoretically, vitamin B6 may have additive effects when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Research in hypertensive rats shows that vitamin B6 can decrease systolic blood pressure. Similarly, clinical research in patients with hypertension shows that taking high doses of vitamin B6 may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure, possibly by reducing plasma levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine.

Here's the simple version: your combo pill (amiloride with hydrochlorothiazide) is a water pill that lowers blood pressure. High doses of vitamin B6 may also nudge blood pressure down a bit on their own. Put them together and the effects can add up, so your pressure could drop a little lower than expected.

This isn't a dangerous clash, and it's based on limited research (some rat studies plus a small human study using high B6 doses). For most people the everyday B6 you get from food won't matter. With concentrated supplements, just keep an eye out for dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint, especially when standing up. If you want to take high-dose B6, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can check your blood pressure.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is an essential water-soluble vitamin that your body needs for metabolism, brain function, and making red blood cells. It is best known for helping with pregnancy-related nausea and may help some people with PMS, but taking very high doses for long periods can cause nerve damage. Get most of your B6 from food, and check with a pharmacist or doctor before taking high-dose supplements.

What Is Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Moduretic, Amilzide, Moduret 25, Amil-Co

Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used for patients with high blood pressure (hypertension) or congestive heart failure who tend to develop low potassium (hypokalemia) when taking a thiazide or other diuretic alone — or for whom keeping potassium levels in a normal range is especially important, such as people taking digoxin or those with significant heart rhythm problems.

The tablets may be used on their own or alongside other blood pressure medicines, such as methyldopa or beta blockers. This combination product is not intended as the first-choice treatment for swelling (edema) or high blood pressure unless low potassium is a specific concern.
