Alprazolam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the basic idea with Xanax (alprazolam): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it out. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab testing that compound slowed down CYP3A4 by about a third. If that enzyme works slower, alprazolam can build up in your system more than expected.

What might that feel like? Potentially stronger sedation, drowsiness, dizziness, foggy thinking, or poor coordination. Keep in mind this is theoretical, based only on test-tube research, not real-world cases, so I don't want to overstate it. Still, mixing an unpredictable stimulant supplement with a calming medication is a poor combination. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using anything with Acacia rigidula.

What Is Alprazolam Used For?

Alprazolam treats generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia, in adults. These uses are supported across multiple alprazolam products, including tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, oral solution, and extended-release tablets.

Xanax (tablet) is indicated for the acute treatment of GAD and for panic disorder. Xanax XR (extended-release tablet) and alprazolam extended-release tablets are indicated specifically for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia — not for GAD. Alprazolam orally disintegrating tablets and alprazolam oral solution are indicated for both GAD and panic disorder.
