Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the wrinkle worth knowing: the codeine in Fiorinal with Codeine is a prodrug. Your body has to use a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert codeine into morphine, which is what actually relieves your pain. Some Acacia rigidula products are tainted with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can block CYP2D6. If that enzyme is slowed, your body may make less morphine, so you could get less pain relief than expected from the codeine part.

Keep in mind this is theoretical, coming from test-tube research rather than people, so I wouldn't panic. Still, given the stimulant concerns with Acacia rigidula in general, I'd skip it and chat with your pharmacist or doctor first before mixing the two.

Here's the situation with Fiorinal with Codeine. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a hidden stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab (test tube) studies that compound slowed down a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. A few pieces of this combo pill lean on that enzyme, so in theory their levels could creep up. That might mean more drowsiness from the butalbital and codeine, more lightheadedness, or a deeper sedating effect.

Honestly, this is only a theoretical concern based on lab work, not real patient cases, so I don't want to alarm you. But layering a stimulant supplement on top of a butalbital and codeine product is risky on its own. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with Fiorinal with Codeine: this combo already contains caffeine, which is a stimulant in its own right. Acacia rigidula products often carry their own stimulant-like amines, and some have even been found spiked with an unapproved stimulant called BMPEA. Stacking two stimulant sources can add up, so the worry here is mostly on the heart and nerves side, things like a racing or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, and trouble sleeping.

I'll be honest, this concern is theoretical and based on how these ingredients behave, not on strong studies. Still, given the safety questions around acacia rigidula itself, I'd skip it and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining anything stimulant-like with this medication.
