Why this applies to Doxepin

Doxepin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the concern with pairing this supplement and doxepin. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to break doxepin down and clear it out. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a hidden stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can block that very enzyme. If it's blocked, doxepin can build up higher than expected in your system.

For a sleep medicine like doxepin, more drug usually means stronger effects: heavier next-day grogginess, dry mouth, dizziness, or a faster heartbeat (made worse by the stimulant part of these products). Keep in mind this is theoretical and based only on test-tube data, not people. Still, since the supplement itself is risky, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
