Acacia Rigidula and Tisotumab Vedotin-Tftv

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES

Why this applies to Tisotumab Vedotin-Tftv

Tisotumab Vedotin-Tftv falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the gist for Tivdak (tisotumab vedotin). Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can mildly slow down an enzyme (CYP3A4) that helps clear the active drug component released from this medicine. In theory, blocking that enzyme could let more of the drug linger, which might worsen its known side effects, things like eye problems, nerve tingling or numbness in the hands and feet, fatigue, bleeding, and nausea.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research, not proven in people. Still, because Tivdak is a serious cancer therapy, I'd skip Acacia rigidula and check with your oncology team before adding any supplement.

About Acacia Rigidula

What is Acacia Rigidula?

Acacia Rigidula
  • Weight loss
  • Energy and stimulation
  • Boosting metabolism
  • Appetite control
  • Pre-workout/athletic performance

Acacia rigidula is a shrub from Texas and Mexico that is marketed in weight-loss and energy supplements. There is very little reliable human evidence that it works, and some products have been found to contain an unapproved stimulant drug (BMPEA), which raises real safety concerns. Most people should avoid it and talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying any product containing it.
