Vinblastine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the concern with this pairing. Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down and clear vinblastine. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab tests suggest BMPEA can slow that enzyme down by about a third. If that happened in real life, vinblastine could clear out of your system more slowly and build up to higher levels than intended.

With a chemotherapy drug like vinblastine, that matters. Higher levels can mean worse side effects, such as a bigger drop in your white blood cells (raising infection risk), nerve tingling or numbness, constipation, and mouth sores. I'll be honest though, this is theoretical and based only on test-tube data, not real patients. Still, anyone on chemo should skip unproven weight-loss supplements and check with their oncology team first.

What Is Vinblastine Used For?

Brand name: Velban

Vinblastine Sulfate Injection is used in the treatment of a range of cancers. Conditions that tend to respond well include generalized Hodgkin's disease, lymphocytic lymphoma, histiocytic lymphoma, advanced mycosis fungoides (a type of skin lymphoma), advanced testicular cancer, Kaposi's sarcoma, and Letterer-Siwe disease (a rare immune condition also called histiocytosis X).

It may also be used for cancers that respond less reliably, such as choriocarcinoma resistant to other chemotherapy drugs, and breast cancer that has not responded to hormonal therapy. Vinblastine is often given as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen alongside other cancer medicines to improve response rates.
