Zanubrutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the gist for Brukinsa (zanubrutinib). Your body clears this cancer medicine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some Acacia rigidula products are spiked with a hidden stimulant, BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can slow that same enzyme by roughly a third. If the enzyme works slower, zanubrutinib could build up in your blood, which may mean stronger effects and more side effects like bruising, bleeding, low blood counts, infections, or an irregular heartbeat.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is only test-tube data, so it's theoretical, not proven in people. Still, zanubrutinib is a serious drug, and these products are risky on their own. Please loop in your oncology team or pharmacist before using anything containing Acacia rigidula.

About Zanubrutinib

What Is Zanubrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Brukinsa

Brukinsa (zanubrutinib) is used to treat adult patients with certain blood cancers. It treats mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) in patients who have had at least one prior therapy, Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), relapsed or refractory marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) after at least one prior anti-CD20 treatment, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL).

Brukinsa is also used — in combination with another medicine called obinutuzumab — to treat relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) in adults who have already received two or more lines of treatment. Several of these uses were granted accelerated FDA approval based on response rates, meaning confirmatory trials are still ongoing.
