At least one FDA label for a product containing Dabrafenib says to take it on an empty stomach. Most supplements — Annatto included — are taken with a meal, so the easy mistake is swallowing both together at breakfast. Where that rule applies, keep Dabrafenib on its own and move Annatto to a meal later in the day.

Annatto is a plant-based coloring made from the seeds of the achiote tree and is widely used as a safe food dye. While it has a long history in traditional medicine and contains antioxidant compounds, there is little high-quality human research supporting its use as a supplement. It can trigger allergic reactions in some people, so use caution and talk with your pharmacist or doctor.

About Dabrafenib

What Is Dabrafenib Used For?

Brand name: Tafinlar

Dabrafenib is used to treat cancers that carry a specific change (mutation) in the BRAF gene — most often called a BRAF V600E or V600K mutation. These mutations cause cancer cells to grow out of control. Before starting this medicine, a tumor test must confirm the mutation is present.

It can be used alone or — more commonly — paired with another targeted drug, trametinib. Conditions it treats include advanced or inoperable melanoma (skin cancer), certain lung cancers, anaplastic thyroid cancer, low-grade brain tumors (glioma) in children, and other solid tumors with the same mutation that haven't responded to prior treatment.
