Insulin (rDNA) falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Annatto interacts with.

Animal studies suggest that certain annatto extracts may have hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking annatto with antidiabetes drugs could reduce the therapeutic effects of these drugs or increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the honest picture with annatto and your insulin (like Humalog or Humulin). Insulin isn't a pill your liver has to activate, so this isn't about enzymes speeding up or slowing down. The concern is simpler: a few animal studies hint that annatto extracts might nudge blood sugar up or down. If annatto pushes your sugar lower, stacking that on top of insulin could mean too much of a drop, with shakiness, sweating, confusion, or feeling faint. If it pushes sugar the other way, your insulin might seem to work less well.

I'll stress that this is theoretical and based on animal data, not strong human research. The annatto in food as a coloring is very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the question mark. If you start one, check your glucose more often and loop in your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?

Brand names: Humalog, Humalog Mix 75/25, Humulin R, Humulin N, Humulin L, Humulin 50/50, Humulin 70/30, Humulin U, NovoLog, Velosulin, Novolog Mix 70/30, Actrapid, Humulin S, Insuman Rapid

Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.
