Dulaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Annatto interacts with.

Animal studies suggest that certain annatto extracts may have hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking annatto with antidiabetes drugs could reduce the therapeutic effects of these drugs or increase the risk for additive hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.

Here's the honest picture with annatto and your Trulicity (dulaglutide): the concern is mostly on paper. In some animal studies, annatto extracts seemed to push blood sugar either down or up. Trulicity isn't a prodrug, and annatto doesn't change how your body clears it. The worry is simply about blood sugar adding up. If annatto nudges your sugar lower on top of dulaglutide, you could theoretically see more low-sugar moments (shakiness, sweating, dizziness). If it pushes sugar up, your numbers might drift higher than expected.

The evidence here is weak and theoretical, so I wouldn't lose sleep over an occasional pinch of annatto in food. With concentrated supplement doses, just keep an eye on your glucose readings and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

Annatto is a plant-based coloring made from the seeds of the achiote tree and is widely used as a safe food dye. While it has a long history in traditional medicine and contains antioxidant compounds, there is little high-quality human research supporting its use as a supplement. What Is Dulaglutide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Trulicity

Trulicity (dulaglutide) injection is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

Trulicity is also used in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors to lower the risk of major heart events — specifically cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke.
