Aliskiren falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Artichoke interacts with.

Theoretically, artichoke leaf extract may increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
A meta-analysis of small clinical studies in patients with hypertension shows that taking artichoke can reduce systolic blood pressure by around 3 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by around 2 mmHg when compared with placebo.

Here's the simple version: Aliskiren (Tekturna) already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Artichoke leaf extract may nudge blood pressure down a little on its own too. So when you take them together, those small effects could add up and push your readings lower than you intend.

I want to keep this in perspective. This concern is theoretical, based on how each one works, and the blood pressure drop seen with artichoke in studies was tiny (roughly 3 points on the top number and 2 on the bottom). For most people that's minor, but if your pressure runs low or you notice dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when you stand, those are signs to watch. Food amounts of artichoke aren't likely to matter; concentrated supplements are more of a question. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

Aliskiren and Tekturna tablets are both approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and in children who are at least 6 years old and weigh 50 kg (about 110 lbs) or more. Lowering high blood pressure reduces the risk of serious events like strokes and heart attacks.

Managing blood pressure is usually part of a broader plan that may also include diet changes, exercise, cholesterol control, and other medications. Many people need more than one blood pressure drug to reach their goal.
