Cerivastatin Sodium falls under ORGANIC ANION-TRANSPORTING POLYPEPTIDE SUBSTRATES (OATP) — the group Banaba interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of banaba with substrates of OATP might reduce the bioavailability of the OATP substrate.
In vitro research shows that banaba inhibits OATP, particularly OATP2B1. OATPs are expressed in the small intestine and liver and are responsible for the absorption of drugs and other compounds.

First, a heads-up: cerivastatin (Baycol) was pulled from the market years ago because of a risk of serious muscle damage, so it's unusual to see it prescribed today. If you're still taking it, that's worth a conversation with your doctor on its own.

As for banaba, the concern here is theoretical and comes only from lab dish studies, not real people. Banaba may block a transporter called OATP that helps move certain statins into the body and liver. With cerivastatin, blocking that transporter could actually lower how much drug gets absorbed, which might make it work a bit less well at lowering your cholesterol. This is a weak, unproven signal, so don't panic. Before adding any banaba supplement, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
