Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Banaba interacts with.
Human and animal research suggests that banaba can lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: both banaba and Jardiance (empagliflozin) can push your blood sugar down. Banaba isn't changing how your body breaks down empagliflozin. Instead, the two just work in the same direction, so their sugar-lowering effects can stack up. That's an additive effect, not a chemistry collision.
For most people this is a gentle, watch-it kind of thing rather than a danger, and the evidence behind banaba is still pretty thin and short-term. The realistic concern is going a bit too low, which can leave you feeling shaky, sweaty, lightheaded, or unusually tired. Empagliflozin alone rarely causes that, but adding banaba could nudge the odds up. Don't change anything on your own. Check your readings and talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Empagliflozin page
“Almost everything on this page can nudge blood sugar in someone taking empagliflozin (Jardiance) for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, or kidney protection, and two entries deserve genuine caution before anything else. About Banaba
What is Banaba?
- Blood sugar support
- Type 2 diabetes
- Weight management
- High blood pressure
- Cholesterol support
Banaba is a leaf extract most often used to help support healthy blood sugar, and small early studies suggest its active compound corosolic acid may modestly lower glucose. The overall evidence is limited and short-term, so it should not replace prescribed diabetes care. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you take blood sugar medicine.
About Empagliflozin
What Is Empagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Jardiance
Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.
Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.

Natural Medicines records Empagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Banaba — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
