Here's the simple version: nimodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, and one of its expected effects is lowering blood pressure. Banaba has shown some blood-pressure-lowering activity in early human and animal research too. Put the two together and the effects could stack, so your blood pressure may drop more than you expect.

In real life that might show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling faint, headache, or a flushed feeling, especially when you stand up quickly. This is a theoretical, additive concern based on limited evidence, not a dangerous chemical clash, and nimodipine is not a prodrug. Still, since nimodipine is used in a serious setting, please don't add banaba without first checking with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Nimodipine Used For?

Brand names: Nimotop, Nymalize

Nimodipine — available as capsules and oral solution — is used to improve neurological outcomes after a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a type of bleeding that occurs around the brain when an intracranial berry aneurysm ruptures. It works to reduce the incidence and severity of ischemic deficits (areas of the brain damaged by reduced blood flow) that can follow this kind of bleed.

This use applies across nimodipine capsules, nimodipine oral solution, and Nymalize oral solution. It is indicated for adult patients regardless of how severe their neurological condition is at the time treatment begins.
