HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Amoxicillin Veterinary
Amoxicillin Veterinary falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Beer interacts with.
Concomitant use of excessive amounts of alcohol with potentially hepatotoxic drugs can increase the risk of liver damage.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
This product is really meant for animals, so if you or your pet were prescribed amoxicillin, the main concern here is mixing it with alcohol. Amoxicillin itself is an active antibiotic (not a prodrug), and it's mostly cleared by the kidneys, so beer doesn't really change how well the antibiotic works.
The flag on file is about the liver. Drinking heavily while taking medicines that can stress the liver may add up and raise the chance of liver irritation. With amoxicillin, real liver trouble is uncommon, but an occasional beer is a very different thing than steady, heavy drinking. To be safe, keep alcohol light or skip it while finishing the course, and check with your pharmacist or doctor if you have any liver concerns.

About Beer
What is Beer?
- Social and recreational drinking
- Relaxation
- Heart health (popular belief)
- Bone health (popular belief)
- Source of antioxidants and B vitamins
Beer is an alcoholic beverage that contains some minerals, B vitamins, and plant compounds from hops and grain, but it is not a health supplement. Any possible benefits come only from light-to-moderate intake, and they are easily outweighed by the well-known harms of alcohol. The safest amount of alcohol for health is none, and beer should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
