Beet + Nortriptyline
Nortriptyline brand names: Pamelor, Nortriptyline, Aventyl, Allegron.
Beet has a minor interaction with Nortriptyline. Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Nortriptyline
Nortriptyline falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Beet interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for nortriptyline: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break this antidepressant down. Some early lab research hints that beet may slightly speed that enzyme up. If that happened in real life, your body could clear nortriptyline a touch faster, which in theory might make it a little less effective (think your depression symptoms creeping back, or low energy and mood).
Now the honest part: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal studies, not on real patients. Everyday beets in your salad or a glass of beet juice are very unlikely to throw off your medication. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you're using concentrated beet supplements or you notice your mood slipping, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

Nortriptyline Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Nortriptyline as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Beet — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
